Fierce Obsessions

The Phoenix Pack Series

FIERCE OBSESSIONS is the sixth book in Suzanne Wright's Phoenix Pack series. It is not a standalone, and I suggest reading the previous ones before this one.

This isn't a series where I feel like I need to read the previous ones again in order to continue where it was left off. There isn't a lot to miss out on or information that needs to be recalled. If anything comes up usually it has been re-explained. Wright has a way of making each book centered pretty heavily on the couple that's being established, instead of updating on all of the previous characters while also introducing this new one. I really appreciate that. I usually only want to focus on the emerging couple, and if I want an update I'd rather it be presented in some other way (like a novella or short story).

Tao and Riley really don't mesh well, but when Riley wakes up with a raging hangover and Tao in her bed she thinks she's made a huge mistake. But to her surprise, Tao isn't against something happening between them. In fact, he guarantees it will continue happening even with Riley's doubts.

Riley has a very complicated past. And, as a raven shifter, she doesn't trust anyone easily. It has taken a lot for her to even be under the protection of the Phoenix Pack. When someone from her old flock wants to meet up Riley is cautious. She didn't exactly leave on good terms. This leads to Riley going to her flock with Tao in toe, but while there trouble erupts with Riley at the center.

I really like all of the Phoenix Pack books. I find them to be quick and enjoyable. I don't have to concentrate really hard on world-building and the sex scenes, while detailed, aren't unbelievable. I can't wait to see who the next couple is.

Overall, I recommend this for anyone who likes Paranormal Romance.

When raven shifter Riley Porter was given sanctuary by the Phoenix Pack, she let them believe she had left her flock. Reluctant to divulge the secrets of her past, she was still embraced as family. Only Tao Lukas, the protective and passionate Head Enforcer of the pack, was resistant to the enigmatic shifter. Until Riley started to arouse in him something other than suspicion.

Tao doesn’t trust lone shifters, especially ones so guarded—and tempting. But the sexual tension between them is making them both come undone, and vulnerable to more than desire. All Tao wants is for Riley to stay with him and to trust him with the truth of her past.

As Riley’s mysteries come to light, so does a danger that threatens not only her life but the safety of the entire pack. For Tao, keeping Riley safe means keeping her close—forever—as his mate.
